Sentou Yousei Yukikaze won the Tokyo Anime Award in the OVA category in 2003 and 2006. It also won the Packaged Work Award at the 2003 Animation Kobe Awards. The show's combat scenes were produced with help from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The series was released on DVD as Yukikaze by Bandai Entertainment from February 17, 2004 to July 11, 2006.
