How to use this guide

Story order: The main list follows recorded prequel and sequel relationships. It is a suggested sequence, not a verified chronology of events or a spoiler-free first-watch recommendation.
Release years: Year sorts by release year. Entries from the same year keep their guide order; undated entries appear last. Years alone do not establish exact release dates or story chronology.
What optional means: Optional marks entries outside the selected main-story sequence. It does not guarantee that an entry has no important plot, contains no spoilers, or can always be skipped.; Movie, OVA and special are formats. Format alone does not establish whether a work belongs to the main continuity.
