Ten years ago, the fifth season of Natsume's Book of Friends wrapped up its run, concluding an 11-episode journey on this day in 2016. This season continued Takashi Natsume's gentle exploration of the supernatural world, focusing on his interactions with yokai and the deepening of his relationships with those around him. It was a poignant chapter in the beloved iyashikei series.
The reason this season's conclusion still resonates is its consistent delivery of emotional depth and quiet beauty. Natsume's Book of Friends excels at blending supernatural elements with profound human (and yokai) connection, offering moments of both melancholy and profound comfort. The series' ability to evoke a sense of peace and understanding through its gentle storytelling remains its strongest asset, making each season's end feel like a warm, reflective pause.
