Twenty years ago, fans said goodbye to Tatsuhiro Satou as Welcome to the N.H.K. aired its final episode. This 24-episode series chronicled Satou's journey as a hikikomori, battling his severe social anxiety and depression while navigating the complexities of modern life. The show was lauded for its honest portrayal of mental health struggles and its exploration of societal pressures.
Welcome to the N.H.K. remains a significant work for its mature themes and empathetic character study.
