On this day, 25 years ago, the first episode of Hellsing aired, introducing audiences to the enigmatic vampire hunter Alucard and the clandestine Hellsing Organization. Set in a gritty, supernatural version of England, the series delivered a potent cocktail of gothic horror, visceral action, and mature themes that immediately set it apart from more family-friendly fare.
The show's unflinching depiction of gore and its exploration of dark, vampiric lore made it a significant entry in the seinen genre, offering a brutal and stylish take on vampire mythology that still commands attention.
