Twelve years ago, the special episode for Waiting in the Summer, titled "In Our Last Summer of High School, We Await That Summer," arrived. This OVA episode served as a gentle epilogue to the main series, catching up with the characters during their final year of high school. It's a quiet, reflective piece that revisits the themes of love, loss, and the bittersweet passage of time that defined the original run.
For fans who fell for the gentle, melancholic romance of the original series, this special offers a welcome return. It’s a chance to see how the characters have grown and what paths they’ve chosen, providing a sense of closure and a lingering warmth that fans of iyashikei storytelling often seek.
