Fifteen years ago, the world received a small but welcome gift in the form of two extra episodes for The Squid Girl. While the main TV series had wrapped up, these specials provided a delightful continuation of the bizarre and charming antics of the marine girl determined to conquer humanity from her beachside lemonade stand.
It’s the kind of low-stakes, high-comedy comfort viewing that anime does so well. For fans who loved the original run, these specials were a perfect, if brief, return to that unique, bubbly world.
