The first OVA episode of Hellsing Ultimate arrived twenty years ago, a grim and ultra-violent adaptation of Kohta Hirano's celebrated seinen manga. Produced by Madhouse for the initial volumes, the series aimed to rectify perceived shortcomings of the earlier TV anime, delivering a more faithful and visually stunning take on the Hellsing Organization's war against the undead.
This OVA run became a benchmark for dark fantasy action, celebrated for its detailed animation and brutal, unflinching portrayal of Alucard's monstrous power. Its faithfulness to the source material and its sheer intensity drew in a massive audience, cementing its place as a must-watch for fans of mature, supernatural horror.
